This entire song started with a roll of the dice (7 dice to be exact).

4 3 6 2 5 2 1…

Before even rolling the dice I decided that I wanted to use these numbers as the chord progression for the song, using them in the order that they fell. I really lucked out with this as it ended up being a really cool chord progression. I played around with it on bass guitar in E.

I then decided I wanted to use the numbers again to determine the number of syllables in each line of the verses:

Line 1: 4 syllables
Line 2: 3 syllables
Line 3: 6 syllables
Line 4: 2 + 5 syllables

With the whole idea for the song stemming from a game of chance I decided that’s also what the song was going to be about.
